"Your data is protected from the moment your backup begins. First your files are compressed before being transmitted over a secure SSL connection to our BOB Servers. Once they are stored on our servers, (all of which are redundant), the files are encrypted using the same technology employed by most banks to protect customer data. This means that not only can we not see the data that is being backed up, but neither can anyone else. These encrypted files are protected with the encryption key (password) that you select, and cannot be recovered without it."

Secure 128-bit SSL communication (encrypted connection)

All communications between your computer and our BOB Servers are transported in a 128-bit SSL (Secure Socket Layer) channel. Although your files travel over the internet, nobody is able to tell what has been exchanged.

Secure and encrypted backup data.

All of your files are first compressed and encrypted with your defined password before they are sent to the BOB Servers. Only with that password are you able to see what is in those files. They are stored as random files on the BOB servers. Using the backup software you can create backups of your files, folders, system state, MySQL/Oracle/MS SQL databases, MS Exchange*.

We don’t keep your encryption key.**

The encryption key used to encrypt your files resides only on your computer and is known only to you. It is never transmitted anywhere across the network. If this key is lost, your files cannot be recovered.

Your files are secure.

The algorithm that we are using to encrypt your files is 128-bit Twofish. It is a block cipher designed by Counterpane Labs. It was  one of the five Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) finalists chosen by National Institute of Standard and Technology (NIST). It  is subject to frequent public reviews but no known attack against this algorithm has been reported.

You can also restrict access to your backup files from the set of IP addresses you defined. If someone tries to access your data from an IP address not on your defined list, their access will be denied. This additional security ensures backup files are not open to all locations, even username and password is known.

*MySQL/Oracle/MS SQL databases, MS Exchange only available on our business plans.

** Encryption Key (Password) can be secured and stored by Belton IT at your request. These is no charge for this service. This is a great idea as it reduces the risk of you forgetting your password. The key is locked and secure, although we can view it, it can not be used on your files without your permission. We will never disclose this key to any third party unless required by law. This  copy of the key can be destroyed or re-issued to you at anytime by request.  It will remain locked and secure at all times.

Loss of password will result in loss of data.
